The beautiful gate to now the Palace of the President of Tatarstan, inside the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan, Russia.
The Palace was was built in 1845-1848 from a design by the architect Konstantin Andreyevich Thon. Thon is also known as the creator of the Church of Christ the Saviour and the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow. This Palace is believed to be located on the site of former Khan's palace. Until 1917 the Palace served as the official residence of the governor-general of the Kazan province. Now it's the residence of the President of Tatarstan.
